3 Things I Loved About “Grilled Cheesus”

Here are 3 things I love about the episode “Grilled Cheesus” from gLee.

1. The show managed to walk a really thin line of being politically and religiously correct. Not only did they walk this line, but they did it FANTASTICALLY, giving each side a voice. They did not convert anyone. They did not blow anyone’s opinions off. Yet somehow, the story maintained it’s integrity. IMAGINE THAT! (In your FACE 7th Heaven!)

2. They gave FINN depth. I never thought I would say those words, but when Finn busted out “Losing My Religion” I just about cried all over again.(I did cry when Kurt sang “I Want To Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles. Let’s also point out that The Beatles are a religion in their own right. There is no use denying it. I will prove you wrong.)

3. They gave Mercedes her voice back. Not only did Mercedes get an epic solo this week, but it was finally a solo with her own flair as opposed to simply being a big voice. This was a solo with soul, and true spirit.

All of this combined to restore my faith in gLee. That the episode which restored said faith, was about faith? The irony is not lost on me.
